Really, honestly, where do you find half the stuff/info/complete and utter B.S. you post?

That said, I love the fact Cassell will be out there balling with the guys as he coaches practice with Flip. If Gil does come back at 80% or less than full health (God forbid), he can learn multiple skills from that guy, Cassell was very effective even after losing his athleticism as a vet.

Just to defend Hill for a moment -- one play against Sam Cassell doesn't actually say a whole lot about what kind of pro he's going to be. All it says is that he got faked out by a wily veteran and that he needs to learn. That's true of nearly every rookie. He still has the ability to become a good pro, but he has a lot to learn. And no, he won't be an upgrade over Jamison as a rookie. But most of us knew that before his workout with the Wiz.

Hill will be to DeJuan Blair what Shelden Williams has been to Millsap. Drafted before but not nearly as good.

With Blatche, Pecherov, and McGee all bigs and all projects that need time it makes no sense to draft Hill, unless the Wizards are trading.

Paul Milisap has the standing reach of undersized s/f at 8'9 and his non step 28 inch vertical doesn't really help. he's got a big 260 lb body that's good for pushing people out of position for rebounds but Milisap is a bench player because his standing reach and vertical are inferior to the standards of successful championship p/fs that he will go up against if his team ever does make it to the championship.
Shelden Williams had a reach of 8'8. That's the same reach as Tyreke Evans who is playing s/g and p/g.
Hill is already a superior physical specimen with his standing reach 9'0 and and 31 inch vertical meaning.
Sheldin non vertical max reach 11'1..pretty pathetic
s.Williams=11'1-8'8
Milisap=11'2 8'9
D. Blair=11'05.-8'10'5--having only a 26 inch vertical really kills blair otherwise he might have been really poor poor Elton Brand.
J. Hill=11'7.
E. Brand=9'2-
So he beats everyone by 5 inches.
Millisap, blair and williams have the strength to push people around to fight for position but none of them can challenge shots well because of their limited vertical physical dimensions-the prototype short but successful p/f of elton brand still had a reach of 9'2 even though he stood 6'8.25 w/o shoes.
What would be great is if we could use that pick to send to philadelphia for elton brand. Haywood and Brand would make a really nice front court.

Exactly! And all those games where he started and averaged like 17 and 10 were just like the moon landing - they never really happened.

Poor Wes Unseld and Charles Barkley -- DOOMED to careers on the bench because of their inferior standing reaches. Barkley could jump at least, but pity Wes, he was too short of stature and limb, AND he couldn't jump.

Yeah, it's a good thing there's a short wingspan/short standing reach section of the Hall of Fame for both of those guys, especially Wes.

sorry don't have Wes Unseld Standing reach and non step vertical nor do i have charles Barkleys standing reach and non step vertical. Height isn't what's important, its standing reach and Elton brands 9'2 standing reach is awesome for a 6'8 player going up against today's current big man nba defenders 9'2 reach is above average for today's current playoff p/f's.

Wes had maximum glute strength which allowed him quick two foot jump vert that negated short t-rex arms and hunchback stature.

I tend to agree with WD, and this will probably never happen again, but WD sort of has a point. Millsap is a good player albeit a little small, but he’s still effective. However, in the playoffs the Lakers just steam rolled the Jazz because the Jazz didn't have anyone who could defend Odom, Gasol, or Bynum. All three of them are just too long and athletic for shorter huskier PF’s like Boozer and Millsap.

The Jazz did play like garbage though to close the season. It's probably because Mehmet Okur is more important to that team than either Boozer or Millsap because of his ability to guard centers.

WizDynasty DOES have a bit of a point when it comes to length (or standing reach -- whatever you want to call it). Defensive tracking shows that longer players typically do better at forcing opponent misses. (Duh.) It's not the be-all end-all measure of basketball potential, however. It's just one criterion of many that need to be included in player evaluation.

Wait, let me get this straight. All other things equal you'd rather have taller/longer defenders than shorter ones? Whoda thunkit?

Good thing DoucheNasty is here to enlighten us all.

if only fisherno new ideas had a mind of his own, there wouldn't be so much hate in the world. Back to topic, hinrich sucks. Let's get a guy with above average perimeter defense and above average perimeter offense with a high lottery pick for starters.

Bow-leggedness is SO last off season.

Shelden Williams was a horrible pick. The Hawks could have had Brandon Roy but he didn't fill a need since the Hawks already had Joe Johnson. Clear case of why you should pick the best player on the board. Worked out in a sense that they tanked enough to get Al Horford the next year.
