We need more professional coaches in sports who, instead of trying to force players to fit a system, build the system around the strengths of the players. Every player has strengths, as well as weaknesses, but if you put them in positions to succeed, you will surely be more successful than trying to find that one-two combo that will automatically put you in contention for championships.

Yeah, they need to add some physical players. That's why losing Okafor hurts. They need some Reggie Evans, Pek. Birdman. MWP. Something.

This team just seems soft. Only really physical player is Nene.

Cartier back in the league on a 10-day. Good for him.

 Funny, I missed that he had been waived by ATL. Such is the life of a journeyman player in the NBA.

We should have a "tracking Opportunity Cost Wizards" thread.

LOL.. Well we saw this tonight. This team need a few more powerful players. Adding the thin Otto only added to their issues against a team like Indy. There are some big boys out there in the NBA. You better have a few yourself.

At least they didn't hold onto him for 3 years.

I never thought he should have been signed last year. This is the stuff EG does that makes me go

Hello Wizards fans. I was just reading an article on the Top 25 Greatest Wizards Players and stumbled on your two former players, Hughes and Arenas.

seeing how the Wizards are doing right now, it took me back 9 years ago when these 2 wreaked havoc and was considered to be one of the most imposing backcourt combination in the league and took the team (along with Jamison) to the playoffs. hope you get the same (even surpass) success with Wall and Beal this season and in the future.

would've been amazing to watch Arenas-Hughes vs Wall-Beal.

Arenas and Hughes would kick Wall and Beal's asses. Right now, it's not really up to discussion unfortunately.

those two should have a role in developing the Wizards guards. but then again, both have a history of not saying and doing the right things at times during their playing days. and Hughes has been busy with his foundation and Arenas is still eyeing a comeback.

Crittenton is in deeper doo doo

Indeed.

Disgraced NBA player Javaris Crittenton was part of a MASSIVE drug ring -- that was hoping to move 400 KILOS of cocaine and 10 POUNDS of weed ... this according to legal docs obtained by TMZ Sports.

400 kilos!?

Gallinari to have a second knee surgery. Apparently he needed his ACL reconstructed this whole time, but they didn't do it the first time they operated?

:dontknow:

He's not former Wiz, but isn't their new GM? Maybe he also took our medical staff with him. Hope his career isn't over.

Jared Jeffries has "landed on his feet":

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/ ... r-network/

Don’t worry about Jared Jeffries, he has landed on his feet. Or, on a boat.

Jeffries is an 11 year NBA veteran who played in 38 games for the Trail Blazers last season after a career that included stops with the Wizards, Knicks and Rockets. He was a solid enough rotational big man to have lasted that long in the league and earned $40 million in career salary.

But the man loves fishing (and hunting alligators with Brad Miller). Apparently. Based on this trailer for his new Outdoor Channel show, “Modern Fishing.”

Any jokes to be made here?
- Unfortunately, whenever he casts his line, he misses the water.
- Hunting alligators? With what? We know he can't shoot.

...eh, I got nothin'.

I fully expect a 20/10 game before the end of this season.

I wish I could explain why I am generally right when I take an unpopular point of view. To me it should have been obvious why Vesely regressed with Washington.

You start a guy his rookie season. Bury him on the bench behind veterans. Make him change. Give him pressure and treat him like a failure under a must win coaching staff and GM.

Once the guy gets free, he's allowed to play his own way without any undue stress. Vesely's way better than given credit.
Bye bye Beal.

You are often right about your late round picks, but I don't think you have much of a track record of being right all that often with respect to underappreciated bench-riding NBA players. Basically, whenever you are wrong about a guy like Morris Almond, Solomon Jones or Nick Fazekas, you fervently assert that the only problem is his lack of playing time. With that as your defense, you can never truly be proven wrong.

I'll eat a feast of crow if I am proven wrong about Vesely. But for now, I'll confidently predict that Vesely will never be anything more than a 11th man type. He may occasionally have a few games where he posts 8 points, 11 boards and 3 steals, but those will come after 5 games in a row of 0 points, 2 rebounds and 4 fouls.
