my thoughts (similar to a what many others have already said)

first of all, we won a grind it out game with our DEFENSE. They
scored 59 points in the last 3 quarters.

We won without either Gil or Caron playing especially well, at least
not for the whole game. They each had a glimpse or 2 or what we've
come to expect. Yet we still won.

Welcome back Capitawn, great leader of men!

I heart MM. He's so solid. Shoots well, rebounds well, passes well.
Hustles. What more do you want?

I really like the way Flip went with the hybrid bench lineup in the 4th.
When we have a lead, Earl can be really frustrating for the other team.

Gil - I think there are a number of issues at work. Tired legs? Quite possibly
but maybe that's partly because he's defending pretty darn well. Mo Will
was a complete non-factor. But I think the biggest thing with Gil right
now is he's trying to complete a near total makeover of his game, for the noblest of
reasons. He's not playing instinctively. He's thinking too much out there
trying to play smart. Eventually this will be as instinctive as the old
free-wheeling Gil was. One can easily envision a Gil that gets us 24/8/4.5
with solid D every night. And possibly Agent Zero when we really need it,
in the playoffs (hopefully).

Haywood was outstanding. 7DD was also really good. Nice to see Flip
stick with him for much of the 4th. Great dunk off the pass from TJ.
Nice FT shooting the other time when he got fouled on the dunk attempt.

Caron will get himself straightened out eventually too. In the meantime, it
sure is nice to have Mike Miller. Re-sign him? Hell yeah. Him as a starter is
just great. Love his size and rebounding. He works great with Wood since
MM is more of a defensive rebounder. Wood challenges the shot, MM rebounds.

Best of all, sending all those Travelier fans home unhappy.

Spurs is the next game I think, and they might not have Parker or Manu, and again, I don't care. Injuries have affected us big time. Now the shoe is on the other foot.

I don't know why you're expecting that kind of performance from someone who has missed nearly two seasons and is coming off of multiple surgeries.

Gil is playing exactly as I expected.

He'll be fine.

one other thought

with last night being the only reg season CLE visit to the phone
booth, my desire for not letting visitor fans go home happy
will be satisfied to a very large degree with a win over
the Lakers. Might be too much to hope for. We'll see.

Its funny how we get one win and some people get offended that everyone is not on the bandwagon. Yes, we've been injured and to a certain extent, that is an excuse, along with new players and new coach. But, we also lost two games against Indiana and Detroit that we had no business losing (they also had starters out too), Arenas has looked like a shell of himself, Butler has been pretty much non-existent, Stevenson has been horrible on offense, Young and McGee are still lost, and we still appear injury prone. There have also been positives (Blatche, Miller, defense), but there are enough question marks that I don't think a "keep things in perspective" argument is bull. Drink all the kool aid you want based on one win against a Cavs team that was playing a back-to-back and was missing two starters, but forgive me and others if they would just rather wait a few more games before we declare that the Wizards have turned it around.

I'm not drinking any kool aid dude. Am I screaming for championship after last night's win? Absolutely not. I just don't subscribe to the "well, they were without Shaq and Varejao." Yeah? We were without Gilbert and Jamison for the playoffs against them. And we didn't have Jamison for the first game against Cleveland either.

apparently it's a fine line between blind homerism and bitter cynicism.

What if the Knicks agreed not to take AI as a nod to Lebron to allow the Cavs to pick up AI b/c that will put them over the top in terms of talent and star power if not chemistry. Yes I'm paranoid, I stay up at night worried about ways Lebron can win the championship.

Let them have him! Good luck with a Shaq-Lebron-AI locker room. WHat that team needs is not another inefficient undersized chucker.

Perhaps there is some upside but you have to admit that team would shoot about 60 free throws a game and even w/Shaq missing most of them that's a nice 40 point cushion.

I've seen it too many times myself. There's
something kinda disgusting about him. But
the old man in 109(?) who often seems to win
the dance cam with his 'dirty dancing' I've
seen too much of too.

This may reveal too much of my true nature but
I can't help thinking of the Carlin routine where
he talks about dog's licking themselves and
then says, if I could do that, I'd never leave the
house.

was watching Ivan last night and didn't catch this before
but apparently DS so got into Queenie's head that when
he threw down that viscous left hand dunk late, he hurt
his own wrist. Now I don't like people to get hurt but in
this case, where he may have hurt himself, I gotta chuckle
a little. Especially since he is (rightfully) dismissive of DS
as a lessor player, but he still got into his head and p!ssed
him off to the point where he may have hurt himself.
