Andray Blatche - Resurgence Thread ( Merged )

Post#1 » by hands11 » Thu Feb 18, 2010 3:06 am

Not sure where the Dray thread is but so nice to see Dray get room to operate.

This is what I envisioned when I dubbed him KG Jr so many years ago.

We are only going to look better with Z. Z is a legit center and he can pull people out with his range.

Way to go Dray. Pick up it brother.

Here's hoping that this thread grows to the size of the trade thread...
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

What If ?

I just thinking about watching Dray hit those outside shoots. I remember people used to get up in arms every time he tried one but I always believe he had a smooth stroke and it he just needed to find his range. So What If is what I'm thinking about with a fresh mind again.

What will Blatche grow into now that he can play his game without being a second fiddle ? He started the season strong. He put in the work over the offseason so you would image he would do that again.

You talk about wanting to draft a young guy to be the talent on this team.

I'm excited to see what Dray does.

And with Al Thorton coming here, how will that all work out. Will Dray see some SF with MM at SG ?

It's just to bad we didn't figure a way out to do with with Haywood here but that Ok I guess. McGee will finally get some minutes to grow. Then we can come back and pick up a center.

Now the only big remaining question is what do they do with GIL

They keep him until he has at least a less negative trade value. It might happen pretty soon into next season if he starts off the way he was playing right before the suspension.

Ilgauskas isn't going to play for the Wizards.

Also, please correct the title of this thread -- the word is "Resurgence".

Although, just to nitpick a moment, a resurgence assumes that there was an initial surge and then a falling back. Blatche has been basically the same guy for the past 3 seasons. Better words might be "Growth" "Fulfillment" "Now With Playing Time."

I think Hands11 is just thinking Thronton is bigger than he is, which I made the same mistake of doing (he looks bigger on TV!).

Al-T is about 6'7" in shoes, so he's the natural small forward and Blatche'll be purely in the 4-5 rotation.

I've been a big supporter of Blatche, even in the worst of times, but I wouldn't get too carried away. His per-36 numbers on the year are something like 15/8.5/2/1.5/1.5. He'll probably see a 2-3 point scoring bump on that, since he's sort of our de facto number one option on offense now, but the rest of those numbers seem pretty reasonable to me for his final post-all-star break splits.

Last night's game was great, but he's had a few stellar ones before, so it's not unique - let's see what he can do over the next few weeks.

He has to string about 10 straight good games in a row for me to call anything he does a "resurgence."

Right now, I'm not buying.

Based on the talent on the floor last night, Blatche could be forgiven for thinking he was back in Las Vegas in July. . .
