Gerald Green of the Los Angeles D-Fenders has been named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Feb. 6-12, when the D-Fenders went 4-0.

Green, a 6-8, 200-pound forward, averaged 27.3 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 54 percent from the floor last week. He recorded back-to-back 30-plus point games, including a 35-point performance in a 138-107 win over the Erie BayHawks on Feb. 6, and a 31-point outing on Feb. 8, in a 110-98 win over the Tulsa 66ers.

For the season, Green is averaging 19.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 19 games for the D-Fenders.

I heard something like he didn't want to come here on draft day.

Gerald Green had T-Mac potential with a brain the size of an atom. I pride myself on being fairly savvy with potential draft picks, but I really missed the ball on Green because I remember being super pissed when we passed him up.

Well he's still kinda young. Same story for draft picks that never make it, they never get the minutes, and GG was one of them. I don't think its fair to write him off as early as people did when he was in the NBA.

He went around 15 didn't he? If he went higher, I bet some team would've prioritized on his development and he would've been some kind of player today, even if he couldn't reach his T-Mac potential.

I remember watching him in the McDonalds game and thinking he was a can't miss prospect. He dominated ALL of the top-level high school guys at that point. The talent is there, no doubt about that but his attitude holds him back from being a top-25 NBA player. Same old story I guess... I'd give him a shot for our summer league squad next year, it can't hurt.

Sure he had hops and size, but to spend that many years in the league and never be able to do any one thing well is on him. He wasn't a good shooter, passer, rebounder, or defender. The main difference between T-Mac and Green is work ethic IMO. We didn't coddle T-Mac (in fact, his mistreatment was a big reason he left) and he still worked his way to superstardom.

Anyone remember if he had reliable handles? Decent 3 point, mid range game? Did he attack the basket often?

Defense was probably terrible, but thats common for most HS rooks.

IIRC he had everything but the defense and attitude.

He is a MUCH improved player. He's made 53-111 3 point attempts.

I've seen him make several catch and shoot midrange jumpers.

Good ballhandling skills.

His pullup threes are definitely McGradyish. And it looks like he got a little bit taller, or probably slimmed down, can't tell.

Handles from a 6'7" swingman with a buttery jumpshot and 40 inch vertical. Clearly, the only problem was attitude... I really don't get why someone wouldn't want to dominate the best league in the world.

Zero chance the raptors move on him. 100% chance that they should.

The kid was a knucklehead, but he had/has talent. He's got range and hops both beyond what DeRozan has, and to be perfectly honest I feel like if you just switched the two guys theres a decent chance that Green gives you the same or more. There's also a chance he does something stupid and gets suspended or whatever.

In either case, it costs you almost nothig to sign the kid and give him a few minutes to see what hes got. You have to believe that playing Chinese league and d-league ball has humbled him, and he has what almost no other raptor has right now - and ability to score in multple ways from the wing position.

But it's a pipe dream. Some other team will sign him, he'll get buried on the bench, and we'll basically never hear from him. Shameful waste of god-given talent.

I also can't see Colangelo giving him a shot but he absolutely should as multiple people have stated he may be humbled and has all the talent in the world. We should see a petition to Colangelo's twitter or something.
