If you don't want him, fine. But don't make stuff up in order to make a reason because his jumpshot is better than DeMar's.

You mean the same guy that was released by a Chinese league team? The guy failed to stick with half a dozen teams in the NBA. He sucks and people who are saying he is better than DeMar need to find another sport to watch because they clearly have no clue about basketball. While DeMar is certainly no superstar (or even a star for that matter), he appears to have the skills and the drive to at least be an average NBA player someday. Even so, that's 1000x better than anything one could expect out of Gerald Green.

about 90% of what's being said in here is wrong.

There have always been a ton of misconceptions about Green, mainly that he can create for himself (his handle is AWFUL, he has some moves but he has 0 ball security). When Green is given the ball and asked to score he's inefficient, he always has been and he always will be. The worst part is that despite his athleticism, he has no idea of how to draw a foul when he gets inside.

What he can do however is shoot the hell out of the ball. A coach that uses him as a spot up shooter and running him off screens would get some serious offensive production, with the added bonus of his ability to get out in transition. Defensively he's improved to the point where he's not a total liability. Generally he's been labeled as an athlete who can't shoot his entire career, and that really couldn't be further from the truth. He's a shooter first who doesn't really know how to use his athleticism.

And for all the talk about him having a 2 cent brain, not working hard enough, etc, it's all way over done. He's worked pretty hard since having a bit of a rude awakening with the Wolves/Rockets, and by all accounts is a pretty good kid. Here's a couple post game interviews from this season:

Hopefully he makes it back to the NBA this year. He was never going to be TMac, he didn't have the handles or the ability to draw contact to ever get to that level. I've watched all his DLeague games this year, and he's played pretty well off the ball, with the vast majority of his points coming within the offense. Hopefully with some revised expectations he can fit into an NBA offense as a shooter.

The Nets apparently are going to sign Gerald Green.

In his first game back he looked pretty sharp.

The FIRE BC movement is about 3 years too late but congrats on finally recognizing he sucks.

He's been a pleasant surprise for the Nets.

If this is how he's always going to play he sure looks like a very nice 20mpg rotation player.

:D

Obviously only one game, but Green's looked real good for the Nets so far. His 16.8 PER and 105 oRtg are both better than DeMar's (12.0 and 97). Again, small sample size warnings apply, but those people who "clearly have no clue about basketball" might have been on to something.

The nice thing for DeMar fans is that Green serves as a nice reminder that players can improve, they can change, and they can go from being relatively ineffective NBA players to legitimately useful. I expect DeMar to get there at some point, just needs to be in the right situation with the right role.
