D-League tryouts/wage

Hey, whats up, guys? I've heard about those D-League tryouts where you dont need an agent to be approached by a D-League team and be signed. I dont wanna spend $150, but if can get me on a pro basketball team it would be cool. I'm 20 years old and have played semi-pro bball for a while and think that would be a good experience to play in the D-League, if I get the chance.

The thing is, I got worries about the salaries for d-league players. I've heard that they go no further than 20k, and thats for the best players. How do players make a living with this wage? Do they have a job other than the d-league? Because It is supposed to be a professional league, right? That way, they would have to dedicate only to play bball, but the pay would be very short. Can someone explain me that?

Thanks in advance

You make anywhere from $12,000 to $24,000 and it is all about the exposure. How can you live off of it? Well, the season runs for 5 1/2 months, so you can have a full time job for those off months and hopefully earn enough. Most guys have jobs in the offseason or play professionally elsewhere.

Hmm gotcha.... 12k over 6 months it is enough money, I guess, considering the exposure, like you said.

But do you know if this tryouts are for real? I've been talking to some friends and they said that it is very hard to get a contract out of this tryouts...

$12,000-$24,000 a year, plus housing/utilities + per diem food money.
