Przemek Karnowski commits to Gonzaga. Who's seen him play?

Post#1 » by wiff » Mon May 28, 2012 10:58 pm

Ok so the big Polish kid committed to Gonzaga a couple weeks back and I am wondering who has watched the kid play?

I'm not a big fan of highlights reels. Jerome James has highlights that make him look like Hakeem the Dream.

People are using a "Marc Gasol" type player as an adjective to describe his game. Is that accurate?

From what I see he's not the most explosive athlete on the floor, neither was Rob Sacre. But at 7' 270lbs does he need to be? He seems like he can pass well and has a nice touch with an array of post moves. None of which Sacre could do.

I don't doubt this kid is a huge upgrade over the Canadian god that is Rob Sacre, I'm just wondering what others opinions are out there on the kid if you have watched him play.

Thanks in advance.

well, Marc Gasol is a quite good comparison. I've seen this guy in Poland many times, so that i noticed that his got a graet upside, catches the ball nicely, got some moves around the basket & in the post(left hook), high bball iq, good post D, above-average passing, sets solid screens, long range. It's hard to tell sth about his pick&roll(pop) skills because he has never really played with a at least solid passer(except from junior tournaments). In Polish league he used to play with a guy who's got a Eddie House like court vision

However there are some defects:
- simply, his fat (%)
- not a good finisher
- poor athleticism
- questionable team defense

I hope that after a year in a gym, in a long future he's gonna be a solid starter in a nba. All in all he's a nice kid to watch(old school european center)

He looks to be pretty dominating offensively.
