I posted about this at, http://youngblackhippie.wordpress.com/2 ... ead-coach/

Because I'm a student at St.Johns I'd like to know what you guys think? I actually believe Lavin has a good chance of helping turn around the program here at St.Johns

Hopefully he can get some of those NY recruits to stay home and play for St. Johns It'd be nice to see St. Johns start to rise to the top and become a powerhouse again.

I bet Lavin wishes he would have known the Rutgers job was going to open up.

The Rutgers job would be easier to recruit players. I don't think kids like St. Johns when they get to compare other college campuses, student life, playing and practice facilities.

City colleges don't have the appeal that traditional college campus settings offer.

Lavin would have gotten the benefit of a rising Rutgers football program as well as Hall of Fame Women's coach Vivian Stringer's perennial NCAA Tournament teams. St. Johns has nothing like that.
