Played in and won a competitive $50 buy-in H2H league. I wasn't sure it would happen after I ended up with the last pick in our draft, but I made up for it by drafting a pretty solid team. Also, for what it's worth- I didn't make a trade at all during the season. I attempted quite a few but nothing ever came of it.
Here's the team I drafted, not in the order drafted:
Kyrie Irving
John Wall
Tyreke Evans
Nic Batum
Paul George
Carmelo Anthony
Amare Stoudemire
Kris Humphries
Marc Gasol
Toney Douglas
Derrick Favors
Timofey Mozgov
----> I dropped the last three on the list very early on. After that, my remaining 3 roster spots were owned by a variety of players at one point or another- Nene, Hawes, Felton, MarShon Brooks, Lopez, Ginobili, Biyombo, Dalembert, all spent a bit of time on my team- albeit short and usually picked up when injured with the hopes they'd return from injury.
Here's the team that got me through the playoffs:
John Wall
Kyrie Irving (dropped him for the 7-10 days he was out..was fortunate to get him back for the final week)
Grievis Vasquez
Eric Gordon
Klay Thompson
Tyreke Evans
Paul George
Nic Batum
Carmelo Anthony
Kris Humphries
Marc Gasol
Nikola Pekovic
The last spot was used to inter-change a variety of guys. As you can see, I had to drop Amare at the beginning of the playoffs and of course the guy I meet in the finals ends up picking him up (along with a few of my other injured cast-offs like Nene) for our match-up. The list of guys that ended up occupying my final roster spot includes: JR Smith, Biyombo, Andre Miller, Hawes, Dalembert, Glen Davis, Lester Hudson, Ed Davis among others...
So I'm pretty happy with the outcome, made a few bucks off it. My strategy at the beginning was to punt FG% and TO's as they're both primarily usage-based categories. Here's how my team did (all year) in the 9 categories our league kept score of:
FG%: 8-9 (10th out of 12)
FT%: 9-8 (6th out of 12)
3PTM: 7-9-1 (7th)
PTS: 12-5 (tied for 2nd)
REB: 12-5 (2nd)
ASS: 11-6 (Tied for 1st)
STEALS: 11-6 (3rd)
BLKS: 17-0 (1st)
TO's: 2-14-1 (12th- dead last)
I was shocked that I ended up sweeping the Blocks category. When I looked at my team after the draft, I never would have thought my team would be any good at blocks- in fact I really thought it was going to be a struggle and something I'd have to work to improve. But alas, the opposite turned out to be true- and I have some very strong defensive guards/forwards to thank for that- Wall, Evans, Batum, and George proved to be just as good as accumulating blocks as most of my big men. It definitely ended up being a category-by-commitee sweep.
So thats my fantasy story- got off to a bad start with the last pick in the draft, but can't complain with the outcome.

Props to Turbo Zone for the sig.
