Brook fits my team, but with injury and reduced offensive role for the Nets, he is some what of a gamble.

Varejao was a monster until his injury. He will probably continue to play an important role in Cleveland.

McGee just signed a big contract, what will he do next? Who knows... including himself

I would take either BroLo (Points) or McGee (Reb/Blocks) over Varejao.

If his offensive role is reduced (which most Nets fans hope it will be) expect his efficiency to increase and his rebounding to pick up.

As a third option his rookie year Lopez averaged 13 ppg - 8 rpg - 2 bpg on 53% shooting, 79% from the line.

His scoring won't dip down THAT much, but it's food for though.

If you can stomach the uncertainty over Lopez's health I would go with him.

If you do pick McGee expect more of the same from him, elite FG% and shot-blocking, terrible free-throw shooting, and nothing else.

I wouldn't take Varejao over either Lopez or McGee. He has injury concerns of his own but doesn't fit as well with your team given the other players on your roster...

Summary:

I would take Lopez and look for a shot blocking / rebounding specialist in your draft (depending on who's available I might consider tanking three-pointers if I'm you and just beef up on something like steals which you will already have a headstart on thanks to CP3)...

lopez doesn't give you that many rebounds which is what it looks like you need. Mcgee has higher upside than Varejao. Varejao has reached his prime, Mcgee still could explode, and he showed signs in last years playoffs. He should be good for 10 boards, 2-2.5 blocks, 10+ points

Thanks for the response guys. A lot of valid points here. I'm leaning towards Lopez and will find rebound somewhere else so I can keep my team balanced with no negative stats. (excluding TO)

I actually like Varejao better than anyone else on that list, but I just can't justify keeping him above the others. I mean, would there ever be a time you would draft Varejao before Lopez? Probably not. Plus, I don't think his offensive role will be that reduced. He should still be able to put up double digit points with good blocks.

I like McGee, a lot. I think he's looking at something like a 15/10/2.5 year, on pretty good FG%. Who knows, he might even do more?

Varejao is... solid, but I don't think he has as much upside. He's certainly rosterable, but I think I'd prefer the higher upside of McGee or BroLo.

If you take McGee you can still build a team that competes in blocks. If you don't you probably can't.

I'd take McGee too. Fits a need and has the highest upside.

I don't like BroLo this year because he's going to take a hit in points and with G Wallace beside Hump now, it doesn't look like he'll bounce back in the rebounding department. Also, the guy still hasn't recovered from his ankle injury (he's admitted to still being less than 100%) so that's a red flag.

Varejao is nice but he had some pretty sizable jumps in rebounding and steals last year that I'm not sure are sustainable. Also, his minutes might drop with Zeller there now. There's also been rumours that he's being shopped. If he goes to a contender he probably won't see the 32 minutes he saw last year.

Definitely not Varejao. He's almost always hurt and isn't a big factor in steals or blocks. If you're lucky, you get 10-10 with a steal and a block, which is solid but not mind-blowing. If you're not lucky, he misses half the season for the third year in a row.

I'm not as sure about McGee either. He didn't play a whole lot when he landed in Denver. Mozgov and Koufos were starting over him down the stretch. He probably SHOULD start and get 10-9 with a ton of blocks, but who knows.

I think I'd go Lopez probably has the most upside. Obviously you have to worry about his health and uncertain role on the new team. He might only get you like 14-7 with 1.5 blocks, or it could be more. He's a viable option if you want more scoring, but keep in mind that they didn't have Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace when he was getting close to 20 PPG.

I agree, McGee has the most upside. I was big on him last year as well, but he's very inconsistent. I'm trying to build a reliable team. With Lebron and CP3, they cover multiple cats. I basically tanked the last 2 years to collect the pieces I need to win it all. And I'm not sure if I can count on McGee during the playoff. I'm not expecting anywhere near 20/7 from Lopez. If he gives me anywhere close to 15/7/1 with good %, I'll be quite happy. Similar to Gortat with better FT and less RB.
