My "Dwight With the 6th Pick" Team!

Post#1 » by xxxSwiZzxxx » Fri Oct 23, 2009 4:05 am

12 Team H2H, standard 9 CATS. $600 total prize money ($50 each person).

Would like to get your feedback on what you think of my team. I know some will say I probably should've went for the safer pick with Granger/Nowitzki....but I just wanted to try a team with Dwight this year. Can I get some feedback?

My main concern is that I have Westbrook + Rondo for PG's, but will the additions of Tyreke Evans + Steve Blake be enough to compete in Assists? I feel like i'm still lacking there and I have been offering people trades like Al Harrington or Paul Milsap to get another decent PG with 5 ASTs or so.

What do you guys think I'm lacking in? Am I okay for ASTs? And is Ray Allen + Michael Redd + Nate Robinson enough to compete in 3 pointers? Its 15 man rosters, so the pickings were slim near the end, and even 3 point specialists were picked up. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

should i drop anyone to pickup Quentin Richardson off the wire (only for 3s...i figure i'd be able to take his crappy FG% because of all my centers)?

Harrington will provide you with 2 3's per game. It will be enough to compete solidly imo without Q-Rich.

I don't like Blake in such a crowded position. Who else is on the wire?

This is a classic tanking FT% team...I think if you had another PG that would give you 3s and Assists you'd be pretty set.

Dwight + Shaq, so you tanked FTs. Good point guards, and I don't really like Redd, mostly because of his injury issues.

For a 12 Team League, your team really isn't that good to be honest.

There are great guys whose value really spikes when you decide to tank FT%. You got rondo, but a big part of ray allen and al harrington and others rank is based on their awesome FT% for their position. That being said, the team is OK, but not enough to consistently win 5 catagories. Your late rounders seem like reaches. Loose Blake and Blair (i know blairs been solid, but that frontcourt is too crowded and the rookies not getting minutes) for serious scoring and ast numbers. Try moving them both for iverson or something.

Cool thanks guys. Augustin was just dropped. Who should I drop to pick him up? I'm guessing the weakest of my bunch there is to drop Blair for Augustin (who could be starting)?

I've already dropped Hakim Warrick for Ben Wallace (i know he probably sucks but he usually gets good steals/blocks).

I think the problem with your team is that you didnt surround Dwight with complimenting players. Dwights strengths are FG%, rebounding, and blocks. You dont have alot of other good shotblockers other then Shaq and to a lesser extent KMart. Westbrook, Harrington, Robinson, Redd, Evans, Blake and to a lesser extent Martin are all pretty poor FG% guys. There are two many contradictions on your team, you have 2 pgs who cant hit 3s paired with 2-4 of the best 3 point shooters in the league (Nate, Redd, Allen, Harrington). I see you as a strong point scoring team and a strong rebounding team, everything else is pretty average or below, it would be a solid Roto team because there is balance but with a h2h league you want to pick some categories to dominate and win nearly every week and others to be average and then one or two to just suck at so you can stack your other categories.

for example I am in a league where I drafted Dwight with my first pick, heres my roster:

C:
Dwight Howard
Amare Stoudamire
Joakim Noah
PF:
Amare Stoudamire
Tyurs Thomas
Andre Kirlienko
Gerald Wallace
Joakim Noah
SF:
Gerald Wallace
Andre Iguodala
John Salmons
Al Thornton
Andre Kirlienko
SG:
Andre Iguodala
John Salmons
PG:
Jose Calderon
Tony Parker
Andre Miller
Chris Duhon

I figure ill dominate in rebounding, blocks, points, steals and assists, and FG% (my only player that averages less the 45% from the field is Duhon who I might drop) other then Dwight and Noah, I have good FT% at every slot so I could win some weks but I figure most ill lose, same goes for 3 pointers. This team is built for playoff time, where I should be able to win at least 5 categories every week.
Go Knicks!
