GSW=UTA Deal Reworked?

Post#1 » by SkyHook » Mon Jul 8, 2013 1:15 am

I've heard rumblings that the GSW=UTA deal might be renegotiated to include DEN in order to incorporate the AI signign & to generate a TPE for the Nuggets. With the moratorium still in effect, none of the announced deals from CP & Dwight on down to all of the trades are official, right? What's to stop UTA from turning around & holding up the original reported deal & (rightfully) asking for more compensation for taking on $24MM in salaries?
Don’t make it personal, don’t take it personal.

Sellers don’t set market value. Buyers don’t set market value.
Market value only exists when two (or more) parties are in agreement.

Until a deal is actually submitted to the league, everything is negotiable - or, in this case, RE-negotiable. It could create bad blood for the future, but Utah is free to do whatever they feel is in their best interest.

The purpose of the restructured deal was to get Foye from Utah to Denver. The Nuggets also got a nice TPE under the new deal as AI became a S&T, while the Warriors got a second round pick from Denver. The new deal was win-win-win.
