So I am wondering how much of Westbrook's salary Utah will be responsible and how much of his 47 million LA has to pay.

If anybody has a link to something that explains this, that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks.

Spotrac has it at a bit under $16M.

As he was waived in the last year of his deal after September 1st he continues to get paid according to his contract on standard pay dates

Players are paid on the 1st and 15th of each month

You didn't specify which LA team you are talking about, but ...

1 Per trade, LAL and UT will split payment of the original 47M, with the payout amount being pro-rated based on the trade date in relation to total season.
2 The payout schedule itself doesn't align with the season itself.
3 The entire 47M cap hit lands on UT, but it is modified by the buyout. The reduction (if any) per a buyout would be a reduction in the overall cap hit to UT and payout by UT, as they negotiated it and they are the ones who end up not getting his services.

LAC does not participate in any of that. Theirs is a new deal with RW, paying him a pro-rated rest-of-season minimum salary.
