A question regarding unguaranteed contracts

Post#1 » by SimonFish » Sun Apr 5, 2009 5:06 am

As a Bulls fan, I saw that $100K is left on the payroll after they waive JamesOn Curry's unguaranteed contract.

But when I went to see other team pages, I couldn't see how much money was left after they waive their unguraranteed contracts, e.g. KVH's from the Nets.

So my question is, in general, how much money will be left on the book if a team waives an unguaranteed contracts?

Thanks.

It varies from player to player. Keith Van Horn's salary for this year was fully unguaranteed, which is why he was waived for no extra cost. Curry had a partial guarantee for $100,000. Et cetera. There is no set limit - for example, if Patrick O'Bryant is waived within 48 hours of the completion of Toronto's season, he'll be only $500,000 guaranteed.

If you're using my website for those numbers, click the "additional information" pop-up at the bottom, where these amounts are listed (when know). If you're not using my website, use my website.
