Definitely need a -1 too. A lot of +1s may just mean something is popular among a loud minority, but still disagreed with by the majority. It should be a seperate counter though.

I thought the point of +1 was to see who the legit post makers are.

No one +1 or like themself on facebook for fear of being laughed at.

I like the functionality of clicking on the number to see who liked it. And 1 is kinda cheesy, but maybe it will grow on me.

Going back to SS's 2nd point:

What value does this really add? Will users be able to search through a particular topic and sort by post popularity? Does this add to the users overall popularity; sort of like a point system that shows how respected the user might be? Keeping a running count of +/- might be cool under the users alias (or post count). If not then this isn't a very useful feature at all.


I agree with him.

Might as well install a standard reputation system if we are going to the +1 (AND 1) route.

To me, this is poorly thought out concept.

For now, we wanted to get rid of the excessive Plus 1 and Like posts.
