Posting time limit ? How?

Post#1 » by DieHardBallFan » Wed Sep 12, 2012 4:26 pm

So I waited the something like 1-2 months to post in G.E ? I think that was the time

I was down to 10 days, checking all the time.

I come online today and now I have to wait 81 days again it says?

Can I understand why this is?

Considering I have had an account since over 5 years ago with over 1k posts.. Lost the info and email. Said it's cool, made new account.....Now I gotta wait for all this again?

Posting time limit ? How?

Post#2 » by tsherkin » Sat Sep 15, 2012 1:47 am

It was initially 30 days, then changed to 100 days.

We understand that it's inconvenient for posters, but previously-banned posters returning and spammers are enough of a problem that we had to take this tactic.

I understand this Tsherkin. But I already waited most of the time asked of me. Like i said I was down to less then 2 weeks. I then relog and have to restart at 80 days!

I am now waiting for 80 days?
I don't see how that is fair bro.

And I appreciate you finding this thread after it wen't un-replied and replying to it.

This is my problem, the new requirements should only apply to those who started after they were in place

Unfortunately, we were unable to do this programming wise.

We regret this inconvience for all users effected who were registered before the new General NBA Forum Policy took effect.

We understand your frustration. And to some extent, it's not fair, but it was unavoidable. As Howard said, in order to implement the policy, we had to do it this way or the programming side of things would have been vastly more complicated, and that just wasn't going to happen. You'll be free to post on the GB in the early part of the season, so it shouldn't be too bad. Small comfort, but at least this way you'll get a chance to get a feel for the new policies in place on the board as well.

We're sorry for the inconvenience, but unfortunately this is how it has to play out.

That's cool.

But is it not possible for a few of us that come forward with proof to get the restriction lifted?

Or will that end up being a "Do it for one, gotta do it for all" thing?

Meh

Yeah, it's a broad thing, we can't really change it for individuals, unfortunately.

Why don't you work with the mods here and try to figure out the lost account that you used to have?

That would be alot harder then removing post limit for my account.
And that DEFINITELY is a "Do it for one person gotta do it for everyone" thing.

Just lame because I know I have a lot more insight and knowledge to give to discussions then alot of these kids posting I see.

That would actually be really easy.

The talking down to the " kids" approach is what we are trying to prevent, which is one the reasons we are implementing new guidelines.

No, because removing the post limit for your account is programmed into the site, and just finding out your old username through an old email or other information would probably be pretty simple, I imagine. Unless you don't want them to find it.... :o

I would love to find it:

I don't know A) The username B) the password or C) the email

Got any suggestions?

And I don't see how me explaining that there are alot of kids on this site who don't have great knowledge and just post things like "LOLZ U MAD or stupid internet pictures aka the post above mine is insulting anyone. It is the truth, sorry.

You are right, we can't help you if you don't remember your previous email or user name. Odd you don't since you said you had 1k + posts. But anyway..

And I don't see how me explaining that there are alot of kids on this site who don't have great knowledge and just post things like "LOLZ U MAD or stupid internet pictures aka the post above mine is insulting anyone. It is the truth, sorry.

Nobody is offended. I am just letting you know the screws are being tightened on that forum. Which is why a rule like 100 posts is even there.

Because eventually we want posters to not post stuff likel;

a) LOLZ U MAD

or

b) Look at these kids posting who know nothing, etc

Both ways of posting won't be tolerated anymore.

I should point out that this discussion is effectively over. If you don't have the info necessary to find your previous account, that's unfortunate. You're stuck behind the eight ball on this one precisely because they are so many irritating, low-quality posters on the GB and the new policy has to be broad and sweeping in order to make any kind of dent in the tide of low-quality nonsense on that forum.

It is unfortunate that there is nothing to be done, but you'll have to wait it out like the many other posters facing a similar situation.

Thank you for your inquiry.

tsherkin,

Thanks for locking this.

I really regret that this happened but everyone affected will be able to post by Mid-December at the latest.
