now, i'm not a code guy by any stretch.
but have the mods/coders considered adding new gfycat.com html5 gif functionality?
the reason i ask is because html5 gifs are far superior in terms of:
1. bandwidth consumption (important for people on mobiles)
2. (and therefore) improved speed of loading
3. quality
an example (click the link):
http://gfycat.com/AlertDefiantGiraffe is a 2 mb html5 gif file and represents a 90% saving of bandwidth as the gif is actually 19 mb (the following image is the full gif)
and realgm already allows vines, which i think are html5 gifs
so i was just wondering whether realgm would allow html5 gifs from gfycat as well?

If I find a phpbb plugin for it, I'll set it up.

Re: GFYcat.com html5 functionality?
i don't know how relevant this is, but this phpbb powered forum apparently has gfycat support: http://www.toonforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6066
so i guess it can be done
i will be looking forward to any developments (and hopefully it's potential allowed use in signatures and avatars?)
if this does come to fruition, i guess we could expect a policy shift (i guess encouragement) concerning future gif use and on the realgm forums

Dr Aki,
We will look into it the next time we do upgrades.

Please incorporate this as soon as possible. This is especially beneficial for individuals accessing RealGM on a Mac computer, and with the web browser Safari (assuming you've upgraded to Yosemite, as pre-Yosemite is subpar).

I'm not opposed to adding it at all, but I don't know what the bbcode would be for it. I'm not too familiar with displaying gfycat.

I'm not sure what you need to implement it but here are some links which might be useful..

pbj,
dream34 is swamped at the moment.
I would suggest Pming these to him so he remembers in case he decides to implement this.
Thanks for the suggestion.
