Forum Changes 2.0

Post#1 » by dream34 » Mon Dec 29, 2014 9:51 pm

Thank you to everyone for being patient with us while we are rolling out the new changes to RealGM. The forums in particular had a bumpy launch, but we have been working hard to get everything where it needs to be. I am going to be closing down the other threads and try to keep new discussions about the design in this one. It was getting hard to follow up with everyone when so many threads were opened up about the new design.

Clear your browser cache
  • We have made a lot of tweaks since the initial launch, but I have repeatedly seen complaints of the same issues that were patched up. I highly recommend everyone clears their cache before doing anything else, because there is a chance that your issue has been resolved.

Tapatalk App
  • One reason the forums were redesigned is so that we aren't dependent on this for mobile browsing, so if you are having trouble with the app, please continue using the forums through your browser in the mean time.
  • The Android version of Tapatalk is working now. Download the latest version from the Play Store and clear any App Data from your application manager before trying to use the program.
  • The iOS version is still a work in progress. Apple has an approval process that has taken up to a week in the past to get an upgrade through. Please be patient and use your browser in the mean time.
  • Tapatalk is a third party app that we have no control over. That is a main reason we wanted to make the forums mobile friendly. Things like And-1 can only be used from a browser.

Notifications

We are still listening to your feedback and making changes where possible. A lot of changes were rolled out today, including automatically removing nested quotes, reintroducing the wiretap to mobile version, and a lot of smaller design changes. Constructive feedback is still encouraged. If you previously posted something that you feel hasn't been acknowledged at all, please post it again in case I missed it.

I, for one, really like the makeover. Thanks for all the hard work you've put in, dream.

Personally, I don't think tapatalk compatibility is really necessary because the mobile version really isn't bad at all, but to each their own.

The only thing I don't like is the edit button on the mobile version being grouped together with another couple functions under a button that opens a pop up box. Would prefer to just have a edit button.

When I click on my notifications it takes me to the 1st post of the thread instead of the most recent reply. Then when I click that same notification again, it takes me to the right place. Why? Any way to fix it so that it immediately takes me to the most recent post?

With the new changes, adding more than the current 255 characters for signatures (which seem to include characters that don't appear in the final signature, like the corresponding number code of each color etc.), and allowing more than 3 quotes in a message would go a long way.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I am having problems with new threads since the forum upgrade. I read each post in these new forums but they aren't mark as read already. I click on the unread icon and it always goes to the 1st post. Using Iphone 5, is there a fix for this?

Fantastic work, particularly with speedy responses to bugs! One thing I've noticed is that using the search engine only returns posts from May 2010 or earlier.

Put the yellow "highlighter" back in for notifications and I'm set. Nice job cleaning up things from the launch.

Brought this up on the raptors board....but I normally go to raptors.realgm.com every day...and now am now longer able to.

Instead I've had to navigate through through three different menus to find the raptors forum board instead.

Have you guys completely removed team pages?

Why not just bookmark it? or a simple "raptors realgm" google search is quick, too.

EDIT - try raptors.realgm.com again... it's literally working 50% of the time (tried it with the knicks, too), very strange. thought you were referring to the team forums.

I don't see any view desktop version button. I prefer desktop versions while on mobile

Is the location setting returning at some point as well? I like that feature. So many posters had funny and creative statements there.

I like the changes

And1 Notifications are currently disabled, but we WILL bring them back at some point. The sooner the better.

Indeed.

Couldn't the 2 wiretap boxes on the top be improved? The Basketball + Soccer ones. They seem to be on the top left when they could be a bit wider and less long.

The notifications button keeps disappearing on my phone. I see it for like a second and it disappears.

Anyone else having this problem?

I'm not using the app, just on the Safari of my phone.
