Forum is a MASSIVE resource hog....

Post#1 » by Chris_SoCal » Wed Apr 22, 2015 4:50 pm

Things became marginally better when you guys reworked the forum but it has gone back to the way it was. I can not leave any forum pages open for any length of time with out computer problems. I love the community and people here. I don't know if the problem is with the ads or with the forum software itself. I am using firefox so maybe that makes a difference as well.

If you want a large bustling forum you guys need to be respectful of peoples computing resources.

I am using windows vista and Firefox. Most times I leave just about any forum window open... at some point either my memory or my cpu usage maxes out...then often I will get error messages about a script that isn't working right, then usually everything freezes. I know Vista isn't the best operating system but I don't have any problems anywhere else. I have plenty of hardware to handle vista with. If I am only briefly on a page it doesn't seem to happen. If the page is left open is happens most of the time.

MTA:It seems better today. But the problem does have a tendency to come and go. I will keep you informed on my experiences.

The problem is just as bad as ever today.... I find even if it doesn't crash, my cpu meter is going crazy with nothing more than any page open here. The page can be completely loaded and the computer should be sitting on idle... but the cpu is going crazy!

The problem has been really bad last couple days... to the point that the website is hardly useable to me. Do you guys care about your user experiences at all?

Thank you for your concern. A script blocker fixes the problem for me. Unfortunate for you guys I won't be looking at any more ads.

The forum is only a resource hog when I use Internet Explorer or Mozilla. It's perfect on Chrome.

Is anyone still having problems looking at RealGM on some browsers?

Please let us know.

I use Chrome and it's been going through some notable spikes the last few days. Fine today though.

I rarely have problems at home (I use Chrome). The most recurring one is that the page seems to never stop loading (the icon on the RealGM tab keeps moving non-stop, even if the page is already fully visible).

On my HTC One M8 phone, however, I do have a big problem when using the default browser that comes with it: when I scroll down, the movement is spastic (for lack of a better word). I'm now using Maxthon browser and the problems seems to be gone.

I'll pass this along.

I'm glad you have found a fix.
