Draft night preparations

Post#1 » by dream34 » Thu Jun 25, 2015 5:31 pm

You probably noticed already that some things were missing. I am taking some extra precautions and disabling high load / bandwidth functionality until the NBA Draft is over. These include:

Dotted topic lines (user posted in topic)
Display of Moderators
Display of custom fields (favorite teams)
Search
Jump to forum box
Smilies
Avatars
Signatures

Sorry about the inconvenience, but hopefully this allows the forums to remain smoothly during the draft where in past we've had some downtime.

Are you guys currently using Load balancers & CDNs? For some of our larges site we utilize load balancers (Hardware/HA Proxy), facebooks HHVM to optimize PHP, and at Youtube we used Memcache for mysql databases.

I posted a complaint about a site crash during the trade deadline. I'd like to officially thank you for addressing my concerns and trying something different. It does make all the difference to a person if they know that at the very least, issues are being acknowledged and addressed. Cheers.

Things were not perfect but they went pretty well during Draft Night.
