For six hours Saturday, anyone who has ever dreamed of playing pro basketball will get their shot at Simonds High School.

Mill Rats draft pick Marc Egerson.

All that's required is a pair of sneakers, gym gear and $85 to get a chance to suit up with the Saint John Mill Rats in their inaugural Premier Basketball League season at Harbour Station.

"Depending on how many guys there are, we can go until they drop," Ian McCarthy, the Mill Rats' president and general manager said of the team's open invitation.

McCarthy and head coach Jaren Jackson will be on hand to run the sessions Saturday, which start at 11 a.m. and run to 5 p.m.

At this point, approximately 12 players have signed up online for the camp and three or four others have expressed their intention to arrive in town Saturday.

McCarthy expects to see six to eight players from the Greater Saint John area and others from Quebec, Ontario and the United States.

Should be a tough tryout. I wonder what pub the PBL is going to receive this year, and thus whether or not any of these guys are going to get some airtime once they make it out of camp.
