Pistons Decide Against Signing Jason Collins

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Aug 20, 2013 4:11 pm

The Detroit Pistons have decided not to sign Jason Collins.

Collins was being considered by the Pistons to give the frontcourt depth behind Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe.

Collins would have taken the spot of Slava Kravtsov on the roster.

Collins finished last season with the Washington Wizards.

Would've made for a much more interesting story had he came out while he was still considered an NBA commodity. Likely that some team will sign him to a 10-day contract midseason and the media will jump back on the narrative.

Nah Josh Harrellson is in town crossing the I's and dotting the T's as we speak. Harrellson is a much better option because he has some upside, will be more durable, and can shoot outside of 6 feet unlike Collins

I thought teams would jump at the chance to sign him, he is a great ball handler, he can often dribble multiple balls at once, and You have to admire a guy that can palm two balls in one hand ha ha ha.

I'll take him on the Knicks for the lols.

Plus he's a good post defender to throw at Roy Hibbert.

Go get him Hibby.
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

This is nowhere near as good as the one that said the Pistons didn't want him *behind* their young big guys.

All kidding aside Jason Collins is a nice 12th man but not much else and if he's not signed I'd say its more likely that its because he's 30 + and teams generally want to use the 12-15 spots on second rounders and young players. I imagine the news will make a big story if he's not signed but clearly it's his lack of talent rather than his sexual orientation that's the deal breaker in this scenario.

Seriously it's getting old. Add to it that this was way too forced.

This is news but Larry Sanders signing a $44M deal isn't even on the wiretap?
