Magic Prepared To Trade Jameer Nelson For First Rounder

The Orlando Magic are open to trading Jameer Nelson and his reasonable $8.6 million contract.

Nelson is owed only $2 million in guaranteed money next season.

The Magic would almost certainly deal Nelson for a future first round pick, but could find that asking price difficult.

tanking my friend... its what we do. but honestly, dipo at point is a lot better than him at the two... hes looking more and more comfortable.

I have a hard time believing a team would trade a 1st round pick for Nelson unless that other team would be sending back another contract.

Would be sad to see him go. This guy is a total class act and has done wonders for the Magic and this community. I hope he retires here and we can retire his jersey some day.

There is no way J. Nelson is worth a 1st round pick. Maybe second round pick.

obviously they would move him. probably hoping for a 1st but would settle for an expiring. Can't see many takers out there. Maybe a contender if they were to lose their starting PG to an injury.

I think ORL has already seen enough in the preseason to know what most of clued people have known all along without the benefit of the preseason: Oladipo is not a point guard, not even remotely close, at least for right now. If Oladipo takes Nelson's spot in the starting lineup, Afflalo will be the point guard.

trading Jameer plus putting Dipo in the starting line up at pg
would be the best thing for Orlando going forward.

^Hilarious. I actually like jameer but if his jersey is retired in your arena thats a disgrace to the franchise.

^Hilarious. I actually like jameer but if his jersey is retired in your arena thats a disgrace to the franchise.

Many magic fans love Jameer. As a magic fan, I respect him but I sure wouldn't retire his, or anyone elses, jersey as of now. I don't get it either.

Am I missing something here? This would be laughable if it said 2nd round pick. Nelsons old and overpaid...8.6mill reasonable? hahahahahahah....Im starting to think realgm is selling out with some of these ridiculous wiretap headlines they put out

You're aware they're only siting a Marc Stein report, right? I agree he's overpaid and they could never dream of getting a 1st rounder for him, but you can't publicly ask for a 2nd rounder for anyone, otherwise your asking price goes too low. Ask for a 1st and settle on an expiring or a 2nd rounder, it makes sense.
