Executives Expect Mavericks To Target Chris Bosh In Free Agency

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Nov 27, 2013 7:35 pm

The Dallas Mavericks are positioned to have salary cap room in search of superstar talent in the offseason's free agency, and NBA executives expect the organization to target Chris Bosh.

Bosh is a Dallas native and reportedly received interest from the Mavericks in the summer of 2010 as well.

Bosh has won two championships with the Miami Heat since signing with them and forming a big three along with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

They wouldn't fit too well with Dirk, but I understand that rumor considering Bosh is a Dallas native.

At the third option behind Lebron James and Dwyane Wade. He is basically a jump shooter now.

After they failed getting Deron Williams, CP3, and Dwight - I actually think Chris Bosh is a considerable target for them. If the Heat break up the Big 3 this summer (or just let Bosh go for more cap space), I could definitely see him giving Dallas a strong consideration.

are they doing this because they think Dirk is going to retire soon? why would they go after another jump shooting PF. The thing that they have always needed was a good C

And where will he play? Backup PF behind Dirk or starting center
Nobody wants this soft spot up shooter in Big D.

Bosh grew up and went to high school in Dallas, so he has family in the area. I'm sure they would try and sell him on playing with Dirk for a couple of years and then becoming the defacto Dirk after where the team is built around him as the center piece. I'm sure Cuban will find a way to give him a max deal so if Miami asks for him to take a pay cut to stay, he'll have another familiar option to think about.

This. Bosh won't be able to hide behind Lebron and Wade in Dallas either and has shown he doesn't want that responsibility.

Damn a lot of hate in these comments.

I don't like the fit in Dallas for him (Dirk and Bosh are redundant in a lot of areas) but you guys are kidding yourselves if you don't think Bosh will get a lot of interest this summer from teams. Stop being so simple and judging him on stats. 17/6 in 27 minutes a night as the 3rd option is still good production.

Dallas just needs a big defensive big man, like Asik. Or anyone who can react fast enough to catch alley oops from monta ellis. Even a Taj Gibson would do.

Someone please send him a link to this thread, just in case he would have considered joining the Mavs.

Wow, people seem so misinformed when they make such negative comments. I think Dallas is seriously considering going after bosh in free agency and will offer him whatever the full 4 year max deal is. people forget that Bosh was the ideal PF in Toronto and who consistently dominated the post and rebounded the ball. Than he came to the heat and became a third option rebounded less and moved away from the post. But in Miami under Spolestra, Boah has learned to become a jump shooter and an elite defender. Statisitically Bosh is the best mid-range shooter in the league. So basically dallas is going after a big that posts-up, rebounds, makes free-throws, hits jump shots and can defend both perimeter and front court players at an elite level .On top of this Bosh does not have a history of chronic injuries like a bad back or bad knees. He's only been sidelined in the past for a few sparins in Toronto and an ab strain against Indiana in the 2012 playoffs.

If Bosh leaves Miami, I think he's going to Houston. Back in 2010, Morey made a huge pitch to Bosh to join the team in what would have been a sign and trade deal with toronto. Morey has always liked Bosh and many of his former team mates have said that he is a hard worker and high character guy they enjoy playing with. If Morey can move the asik and lin contracts for cap relief, he can sign Bosh to a 4 year max deal. Bosh has already been on the record saying he doesn't like the pressure of playing in his hometown of dallas and I don't think the heat this time around will be able to offer 3 near max contracts to wade, lebron and bosh because of the more punitive luxury taxes. Houston on the other hand is an income-tax free city like miami but is a bigger market with better revenue streams including internationally from the asia pacific. They have resources to pay the tax for a big 3 of harden, howard and bosh. Rockets have one of the best owners in sports in les alexander whose paid the luxury tax before and is committed to winning more championships like he did with hakeem in the 90s.

EXACTLY! Well said sam. Bosh's stats as a third option is awesome. not number, not number 2, but the number 3 option. If bosh ever leves miami he'll explode. one of the fastest and best shooting PF in the league

Wade said he is not taking the max and Bosh is not getting a max but will get paid and finally LeBron is the only Heat player who will receive the max. Bosh is staying in Miami so don't stress of thinking he will leaving from Miami.
