Spurs Sign Shannon Brown To 10-Day Deal, Release Othyus Jeffers

The San Antonio Spurs have signed guard Shannon Brown to a 10-day contract and released Othyus Jeffers from his 10-day deal.

Brown most recently played for the Phoenix Suns from 2011-13.

In two seasons with the Suns, Brown averaged 10.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 23.7 minutes per game.

Brown won two NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Jeffers originally signed with the Spurs on Jan. 24.

When he came from Charlotte to LA, Phil really found a niche for his athleticism and energy he brought in off the bench. After his first impact season he started to fall in love with the outside shot and looked for his shot a little too often. I think with the Spurs he can get back to being a role on a very good team. Not sure he will see the minutes but if he does I think it was pan out well for him.

What a weird place for him to sign. I don't know if I see him making it through his first 10-day without being cut. He plays less than zero defense, and is a total ball-stopper. I was absolutely ecstatic when he was shipped out to the Wizards. Having to watch Shannon Brown play basketball for two years was like getting a 2 years long root canal with no anesthetic.

Shannon Brown was one of my favorite players on the Lakers when he was playing with us. But I don't care for this deal...how did Othyus do with the Spurs? He killed it in the D-league and such, did he just under preform for them or?

Decent player with championship expierience. Very good signing. He's very athletic, can shoot the 3 ball and play solid man defense, and that's always valuable, on any teams.

Agreed! San Antonio always finds ways to make players fit into their infamous system. Honestly, players become much better in the roles given to them here. Brown has a real chance, but if he doesn't play solid D he won't be getting resigned, especially with so many solid rotation guys coming back soon.
