Nuggets Consider Bringing Back Andre Miller After Trade Attempts Fail

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Feb 15, 2014 9:16 pm

The Denver Nuggets are considering bringing back Andre Miller to the team after being unable to find a suitable trade. The Nuggets worked out Miller this week.

The Nuggets haven't played Miller since Dec. 30 when he engaged in a public confrontation with Brian Shaw.

Miller's $4.6 million salary for next season is fully non-guaranteed.

Teams like the Sacramento Kings that have previously been interested in Miller have fallen too far out of the playoff race to still be an option.

Either Lawson isnt coming back soon, or Denver is trrying regain leverage to trade Miller.. Offers cant be good for a guy sitting at home on suspension...

That would be my opinion.

What leverage do they have - he's a dinosaur that can retire anytime he wants. His agent is going to ask for a buyout since his contract won't affect the nuggets cap situation next season (fully unguaranteed). I don't think he'd be happy if he got traded to the kings or some other basement team. He's likely wants to sign with Portland where he last played. He said he enjoyed it and the blazers regretted trading him for an obese ray felton. He can back - up lillard while mo williams slides into a back-up 2 role which he was comfortable doing when he was with the clippers.

They have 0 leverage when he is sitting home getting paid to do nothing.. Coming up to trade deadline teams might need a back up PG and would be willing to trade for him, but i am sure teams would like to see if he is in shape.. End result might be a buy out, but might as well try and see if you can get something for him if you can..

Actually, $2M of his $4.625M for 2014-15 is guaranteed.

Might as well keep him. Denver only has one true PG in Lawson. They need someone to back him up.

reports also said that he wasn't interested in coming back. he felt it was irreparable. the guy lost a 230 game played streak...kinda don't blame him, but he is still getting paid, so he should come back.

It may be on Andre to act professional and decide to want to be on the team.

BUT it is Shaw's responsibility to initiate the interaction. He is the coach and if something doesn't function then he needs to try every available avenue to make Andre a believer that Shaw has good intentions. This is an issue with sincerity. Someone of the two - Shaw or Miller is being insincere.

And if no one is being insincere, then one of the two is being lazy.

Andre can't repair the active player streak but he can go for a ring. Shaw can't give Andre everything he wants, but he could be thoughtful enough to play Andre for a minute and keep the hard-earned streak alive and keep Andre's morale up. Same sacrifice, Andre disrespected in a way but not in a irrepairable fashion.

If Shaw's enough of a man to come out and state the reason he benched Miller is intentionally to snap his streak so Miller's focus would be on the team and getting a ring, then I'd respect him. If Shaw did it carelessly, get rid of Shaw.
