Lakers, Mavericks Seeking Unlikely Trade For Kevin Love Ahead Of Deadline

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Feb 18, 2014 9:48 pm

The Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks are attempting to put together trade offers to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love.

The Wolves have given no indication they have interest in moving Love ahead of Thursday's deadline.

Love could become a free agent in 2015 and it is widely known that his agents is determined to get him to a major market.

Love's first choice is joining the Lakers, according to one person familiar with his thinking.

Neither of those teams have any assets to give in a Love trade. None.

The Lakers can also offer their 2014 first round pick, which will almost certainly be in the lottery.

No they can't, according to the Stepien rule. Who wrote this?

Unsure as to why Dallas is in the mix. Dirk and Love front-court would be odd.

Pau and future picks after they get good again? Gee, how could Minny ever say no to that?

If I'm the timberwolves GM, the only way I'd trade Kevin Love to the lakers is for Pau Gasol in a sign and trade transaction along with a top 3 pick in the 2014 nba draft. Gasol and Rubio are friends so it shouldn't take much convincing to get gasol's consent. Parker, wiggins or embid along with gasol is probably the best offer they will get for kevin love before he leaves but lakers will need to win the draft lottery for this to go down. Gasol would replace Kevin Loves's role on the the wolves and that pick could hopefully be the their franchise player of the future.

Cause the bulls are out their with trade assets and may acquire him before free agency. Than love would have to pass up playing with noah, rose and thibs as well as a 5th guaranteed year on his contract to go play with the lakers and a washed up kobe. Bulls have been aggresive in trying to trade for lamarcus aldridge(they like him more than love)this past season. Now aldridge says he wants to stay in portland - so they will focus their efforts on love. But bulls are also interested in lebron, bosh or melo in this years free agent class - who they can sign outright with a taj gibson trade and a boozer amnesty.

As a Laker fan, rumours like this are a waste of time.

No way do the Wolves trade Love for a washed up Gasol, a bunch of fringe role players and future picks (which won't even be the top 5 pick they have this year).

LOL, the earliest the Wolves move Love is next year's deadline. Not happening before then

If you were the Timberwolves GM the Timberwolves fans would hate you and call for your head (the usual).

I think it'd be more likely in this coming offseason. Unless a situation like where NY traded the farm for Melo comes up, the Wolves are more likely to get a killing in return this year.
The trading team might ask Love to not opt out after the season like they did with Paul too so they have him for 2 years.

I don't know about that. A top 3 pick in this draft is expected to be a game changer. It's not a lot in return but if I'm Minny, I do this. Potentially quick rebuild considering what they're doing right now isn't working.
