Kobe Bryant brought up the name of Pau Gasol during an interview on Thursday with Ric Bucher, indicating he believes he will re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason.

On a scale of one to ten, Bryant puts the probability of Gasol re-signing at eight.

The Lakers attempted to trade the expiring contract of Gasol this season and his tenure with the team has seemed to becoming to an end.

Maybe Kobe already knows that D'Terrible-Antoni will be fired by end of this season and Pau can go back to being utilized in the offense in an effective way...instead of a pylon like he is now :)

 This is pretty naive of Kobe considering he likely blew the Lakers shot at outbidding other teams for his services this offseason by signing that fat 2-year contract extension.

 I Just cant see Gasol coming back to the Lakers. Not as long as Mike D'antoni is the coach

After losing by 48 points last night why would Pau want to stay there? Go back to Memphis and play with Marc.

Everybody wants to be in LA, just ask Dwight.

With a thin PF/C free agency market, I wouldn't quite rule out Gasol leaving since the Lakers have huge holes at both PF and C but if Gasol wants to be on a winning team with a chance to contend, it would be best to leave while you can.

IMO for Pau to want to resign with LA two things would HAVE to happen.. MDA has to go, and there would have to be a No Trade Clause in his contract.. No way he wants to deal with trade rumors all year next year!!

If Memphis can unload Z-Bo for picks/prospects they should sign Pau and play the brothers together.

Kobe also loved the idea of trading 19-year old Bynum for 36-year old Jason Kidd.

Kobe needs to go back to his old days, when he wouldn't talk as much.

His words mean so little now. All this talk of motivation and "oh they'll see" stuff means nothing anymore. It's over man. The Lakers won't be doing anything for the remainder of his career. They'll be lucky to get an 8th seed for the next three years.

His front office comments mean even less. He's open about how much he loves Pau, yet the Lakers try to trade him every chance they can get. If Kobe's feelings meant so much to them, they wouldn't treat Pau like crap. Yeah, he's making predictions about Pau but doesn't even have enough influence for the Lakers to keep Steve Blake? Then he goes and pouts about the Blake trade on twitter.

It's getting sad, Kobe.

I dont think he re-signs.
Hes playing for a horrible team for a coach he hates, and for a team that has dangled out him out as trade bait for as long as he's been there.

He needs to do something while sidelined :) and from here on, more and more of his seasons will start looking like this one. I think he should hang it up, amazing career - prolific scorer, but his winning days are over...unless they can sign some major players in the offseason.

Maybe he needs the money to support the divorce/his kids? I mean the Lakers gave him quiet a generous offer...

remember kobe's comments when he signed that 50/2 contract?
"Don't just learn ur sport .. Learn the sports industry" - probably the funniest comment he ever made.
kobe knows everyting about self-marketing, taking personal advantage - being perfectly selfish.
but he doesn't know anything about a team's economics.
there's no freaking way gasol will be a laker come october.
kobe proving again that he doesn't know anything about how this world works.

Why would Memphis do that when Z-Bo is better?
