Monta Ellis Hopes To Spend Rest Of Career With Mavs

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Oct 24, 2014 6:29 am

Monta Ellis has the ability to opt out of his contract with the Dallas Mavericks after this season, but he has become fond of the organization and discussed a desire to retire with the team.

“It is a business, but at the same time, I’m going to look into everything with my family, sit down with my wife, my kids and we’re going to go from there," Ellis said. "But I’m with the Dallas Mavericks for the next two years and hopefully throughout the rest of my career."

“They love it here," Ellis said when asked how his family is doing in Dallas. "I would love to retire here. My wife loves it. It’s good because she’s trying to go back to law school and get into being a lawyer or whatever. So my life is great on the outside of basketball. I love the city of Dallas. I like how they embraced me. That’s the thing that was with me as well. My first two years at Golden State, the fans embraced me so much that it wanted me to give back to them. That’s why I worked so hard to be the type of player that I was because the fans were 100 percent behind me. And when I came here it was the same way. It got me back to want to give back to them because they give me so much.”

Sounds like he's gonna opt in. I also wonder how much Tyson will ask for next summer, I wouldn't give him more than 3/10 considering the increasing cap.

A lot of people have said the same since joining the Mavs, rarely do people talk about the class organization Cuban has been running. Most of the focus goes to the Spurs who have had more success, but the Mavs have been able to keep a HOF superstar through think and thin...and somehow always seem to stay relevant in a dominant Western conference.

Kudos.

I say he's slightly underpaid at 8m per year, but not by a lot, Dirk's contract is ridicilous comparing to selfish kobe.

All they need to do is to find a future pg next summer.

People want Rondo, but I don't think he's a good fit, since Monta is a bub-par 3-point shooter and Parsons is average at best.

I hope you mean 10 per for 3 years, in which I'd agree and say 8-10 fits.

Even tho both Monta and Parsons are average 3 point shooters, they can still knock it down. And both are superior cutters/slashers, so I think that Rondo will be able to get them a lot of easy buckets

He is their Pop as far as the media is concerned. Nice to see with an owner with a personality who calls out bsand does not back down.

Ellis should be getting around 12 mil a year. Especially when you consider lesser players like Parsons and Hayward are getting more 14

He is pretty underrated
