Bucks, Larry Sanders Agree Upon Buyout

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Feb 18, 2015 4:00 pm

Larry Sanders and the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed upon a buyout, a league source tells RealGM.

Sanders is expected to receive $13 million on the rest of his $40 million contract.

Sanders has served a 10-game suspension this season for violating the NBA's anti-drug program and has been out for "personal reasons."

Sanders signed a four-year, $44 million contract extension in 2013.

With Sanders being bought out before March 1, he would be eligible to sign with a team and be included on their playoff roster.

So how does this affect their cap?

Is the cap hit just $2 million next season (15-16) based on $11 million cap hit this season (14-15) and then he's off the books?

So he basically got a 13 mm season for doing nothing. The "Andrew Bynum" plan, well played

$13 million can buy a lot of drugs.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

This season has been exciting in terms of the clearance section. Josh Smith and Larry Sanders? Come on.. before the season started who would have thought they would be waived. Those are the best players to ever be in the discounted aisle.

Rodman could hit the 3? Draymond sounds more like Pippen.

So he walks away from 27 million dollars the next 3 years and who knows how many more 10's of millions the next 10 potentially. Hard to have much faith in him not being broke in a few years based on his management of his career and finances. I can't imagine healthy investing and conserving of money from a person like this.

I think the NBA has a 70k dollar pension or something if you play 3 full seasons so I doubt he is truly ever broke and on public assistance or working some public job, but with out it I sure could. I could understand football players walking away from a sport that physically and mentally mames a third of the work force and where death or paralysis is real, but this. This is different.

He's not just giving up that money. No one is ever going to give him a big contract again I would think even if he got his stuff together. The risk has been established at this point.

It has nothing to do with Milwaukee. He just doesn't want to play anymore and would rather work on his art and be free from drug testing.
