Lakers Were Only Other Team To Express Interest In Ty Lawson

The Los Angeles Lakers were the only team beyond the Houston Rockets to express interest in trading for Ty Lawson.

The Lakers can't offer a first round pick until 2020 at the earliest and may not have even offered a future first rounder for Lawson, according to sources.

The Lakers have D'Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson already scheduled to play heavy backcourt minutes.

nuggets could have got more if they moved him at the trade deadline. heard they wanted 2 first rounders similar to what they got for mozgov.

Lakers never seize to amaze me with their stupidity

Drafts PG with 2nd overall pick instead of Okafor, the consensus number one pick for several years

1 month later attempts to trade for starting PG because they are already worried about the guy they drafted

I doubt it. Lawson will be a free agent after two seasons, so maybe they were considering him to help them become competitive in the short term.

They are called combo guards for a reason. Clarkson has shown he can play full-time PG already, but it doesn't look like he can become an elite distributor. He may become one of the few guards who can play both backcourt positions at a high level. Russell is one of the best passers to come out of the draft in years. He would have had more assists in Summer League if his teammates could finish plays. He did have a lot of trouble bringing the ball up against pressure though. It is too soon to determined whether he can or can't play PG in the NBA.

I would have to agree with you; I had a feeling the Lakers weren't going to get any top tier player. Russell better be a GREAT player because right now I'm highly upset at that pick.
