Heat More Likely To Trade Chris Andersen Than Mario Chalmers

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Aug 26, 2015 5:06 pm

The Miami Heat remain willing to trade away Chris Andersen to help alleviate their luxury tax bill.

Andersen is due approximately $5 million and the Heat haven't found much of a market for a trade.

The Heat, however, are expected to bring Mario Chalmers to training camp even though they haven't ruled out a trade.

That is the heat's problem - they do not own any future first round picks that they can trade because of the Stephien rule. Heat traded two future first rounders to acquire Goran Dragic. Heat owe a first round pick to philly from the Lebron sign and trade with cavs in 2010 which was diverted from Minnesota in the Wiggins/Love trade and later Thaddeus Young/Kevin Garnett swap. Heat likely hold on to Anderson and Chalmers till the trade deadline and hope they can unload them for 2nd rounders or wait until a team with an injured back-up pg or big man gives them a call.

business is business, aint no love in business ... even if birdman decided not to follow lebron and stay in miami for the fans ... the team now tries to get rid of him like he never belonged there for a matter of deserved money they agreed on before

You can't have him on a Vet-min deal because he's already under contract for $5M. He'd definitely be worth a min deal if he gets waived.

well yea that's what i mean, i wouldnt want raptors to give up anything for him. and considering there's no interest around the league, would love to see him waived..

It could happen but he's worth $5M to a contender needing size. I would be surprised if the Heat waived him before the deadline. He may get traded and subsequently waived by another team looking to shed salary.

Cavs have that $13 mil trade exception to burn. He might be a candidate. Doubt the Heat would help out the Cavs like that though.

If he gets waived you'd see contenders like GSW or San Antonio or the Clippers sign him for big man depth. He's a lot more likely to sign for the vet min with teams like that over the Raptors

Clips should make an offer. We have way too many guards and not enough depth at the 5.

I would be upset to lose Birdman, he's given us so many great games. He's invaluable to a team.

I think they're more likely to trade Mario Chalmers because who in the hell is going to want Chris Anderson?

I really hope this is some type of ploy to draw up better trade interest in Chalmers. I'd prefer keeping Andersen on the bench for leadership and intensity. Whiteside could learn alot from him.
