Heat Guarantee Salary Of Hassan Whiteside For Entire 15-16 Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Sep 3, 2015 10:29 pm

The Miami Heat have guaranteed the contract of Hassan Whiteside for the entire 14-15 season.

The Heat could have waited through a series of guarantee dates.

Whiteside initially signed a contract last season that provided for staggered guarantee dates for his $981,348 salary for 2015-16. He was guaranteed 25 percent of his salary on Aug. 1. The initial terms of his contract had him receiving a 50-percent guarantee if still on the team on opening night and then a full guarantee if on the roster on Dec. 1.

With Whiteside to fall short of full Bird Rights due to only a two-year tenure with the team, the Heat still will have to create salary-cap space to re-sign him next summer.

This has to be the worst news he's received all summer (despite knowing it was coming).
He'd be making endless more had he been a free agent.

He had a contract man... why do you think he had the choice to be a free agent??

Miami isn't going to let him go just to sign him to more money. How does that make sense? SMH BRO!
