Kevin McHale Withdraws Candidacy From Kings' Job

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu May 5, 2016 3:13 pm

Kevin McHale has withdrawn his candidacy from the Sacramento Kings' head coaching job.

McHale had engaged in exploratory talks with the Kings.

The Houston Rockets fired McHale in November.

The Indiana Pacers' head coaching position also became available with their decision to part ways with Frank Vogel.

At least McHale has some sense. Why on earth would you want a job in that franchise?

Plus, more evidence Bird and McHale never really liked each other much.

Fact is that momentum in games is a real thing, while not tangible itself, you can tangibly see the effect it has when teams are on runs and how it can dramatically effect the outcome of games when you can generate any momentum.

He was likely never interested in the Kings job. Just interested in letting other GMs know that he was interested in coaching again this year. And with how the Rockets overachieved last year he should probably get some looks.

Just checking because he started out as an assistant with his actual father. I thought I was missing a headline somewhere.
