Bucks Preparing For Greg Monroe To Opt-In For 17-18

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Oct 21, 2016 5:33 pm

The Milwaukee Bucks are preparing for the possibility of Greg Monroe opting into his contract for the 17-18 season.

Monroe signed a three-year, $51.4 million deal with the Bucks in the 2015 offseason. Monroe is due $17.88 million for the 17-18 season, which he may not command on the open market even with the cap spike.

Monroe has struggled with his fit within the Bucks.

Milwaukee also re-signed Miles Plumlee in the 2016 offseason, extended John Henson a year ago and drafted Thon Maker, making the center position a crowded one long-term.

For $35 million over the next two years, I'm sure he can afford therapists to help him deal with it. Or hookers. Probably hookers.

Sure, he may not stay with Milwaukee, but Monroe is worth $17M. I don't think he loses value because Kidd hasn't found a way to use him effectively. Mozgov got $16M this summer and the cap will be going up again next summer. The Bucks will have no trouble trading Monroe if they decide to.

Totally agreed. Hookers can heal wounds.
