Damian Lillard: We Got No Haters Here

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Nov 23, 2016 6:01 pm

The Portland Trail Blazers had a significant offseason with new deals for Allen Crabbe, Meyers Leonard and Maurice Harkless along with signing Evan Turner from the Celtics in free agency. C.J. McCollum also signed a $106 million extension.

The Blazers insist they won't end up like the Suns who exceeded expectations and then quickly became undone by infighting.

"We got no haters here," Damian Lillard said. "Guys are happy for each other."

Despite the signings, Terry Stotts tempered expectations even in the offseason.

"We are probably not going to make the quantum leap the salaries might indicate," Stotts told ESPN in July.

Signing Evan Turner for 4 years 70M was the first step in that direction - like when the suns acquired Shaq and his fat contract from Miami when he was clearly on the decline. Most contributors in anything including sports get bothered by not being compensated or recognized for their efforts fairly and that impacts future performance. Turner is wetting the bed at such a high salary it's an eyesore for guys making less than him but contributing more in the team's performance.
