Lakers More Active This Season Heading To Trade Deadline

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Feb 16, 2017 5:09 pm

The Los Angeles Lakers are more active heading into this year's deadline than they have in recent seasons.

“We are active, yes,” Mitch Kupchak said. “We’re active every year. … Quite frankly compared to the last three or four years, we have a lot of talent on this roster that I think a lot of people have interest in — varying levels of interest. I would think there’s more meaningful discussions this year than there have been the last two or three years.”

Lou Williams and Nick Young are the most likely players who could be traded.

“I just play,” Williams said, when asked if he’d like to play for a contending team. “I’m a little old school in my approach. I play for the team that I have the jersey on for, so I don’t really deal in hypotheticals.”

Kupchak left open the possibility that nothing will happen.

“A lot of it depends on your roster and what it looks like,” Kupchak said. “I really like this group; they get along really well together, the guys that are here as mentors and leaders are doing a great job. The young players are showing growth. So it’s all good.”

"So It's all good"

Delusional

If Mitch sits on his hand, or makes another horrible transaction he might be out of a job!

I heard Mitch likes to sit on his hand precisely long enough to give himself a stranger.

Lou is worth more to the Lakers than other teams are likely to be willing to give up in return. It is very unlikely he is going anywhere. Since Young can opt out at the end of the season, the Lakers may be willing to give him up, but not for nothing.

That's not true at all. He's putting up a lot of points on a cheap contract and the Lakers aren't going anywhere. I'm sure they would take anything of substance for him at this point.

Lou is absolutely valuable in the NBA market. He contributes in limited minutes in every environment he's been in. Put him on a playoff Team and they are instantly better in crunch time. Personally, I think he'd be a great fit for Washington, but I'm not sure what they'd give in return outside of Trey Burke, Kelly Oubre Jr

I have to agree that Swaggy P is probably staying put. Doubt Teams will pull the trigger on him.

Can totally see Swaggy P in Houston for KJ McDaniels + Tyler Ennis.

Liggins is a scrub and Cleveland's 1st round pick is almost a 2nd round pick. You gotta do better; this doesn't help the Lakers at all.

And a late first is something.
