Pacers Shopping 2017 First Round Pick Concerned About Window With Paul George

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Feb 18, 2017 3:02 am

The Indiana Pacers are shopping their 2017 first round pick in order to improve their roster immediately around Paul George.

The Pacers would like to acquire either an established wing or frontline player.

The draft is considered one of the strongest in recent memory.

Indiana also traded their first round pick last year to acquire Thaddeus Young.

With Paul George able to opt out of his contract in 2018, the Pacers have a small window to build a title-level supporting cast around him.

Bad move, Bird. You're not remotely close to contending for a title with or without PG13. No reason to strangle the team's future for a reward that will never materialize.

If PG is dead set on getting a title, he should be pushing to get traded to the likes of Boston or Washington.

Why would he want to go to the wizards? They would have to likely give up one of Bradley Beal or Otto Porter along with future draft assets to get him. Wizards have like the worst bench in the nba and would probably still lose in the second round with him. Its Celtics or nothing Bruh. And PG knows it - I think he'd rather be acquired by the Celtics right now than see that opportunity close with them being successful in lobbying the bulls to land Jimmy Butler.

Trading the 18th overall pick (current projection) won't exactly strangle their future. Teams get in trouble when they start trading future 1st round picks. Bird is right to be concerned with PG leaving but it might be too little too late.

Riiiight. Because Boston with pg is closer to a contender than Washington? Washington would be dumb to try to get him though. The best fit for him is probably Houston.

Feel free to ignore where I said 'the likes of Boston or Washington'... as in not only those teams or in any particular order. And yes - Wall, Porter and PG is better than Wall, Beal and Porter. Regardless, Boston is the team that is both playoff competitive and able to put together solid trade packages. It's not exactly a revelation.

He's coming to Orlando in 2018.

PG is close to ex-coach Frank Vogel and prior roommate Reggie Jackson, who may be traded to Orlando.

Its a master plan Vogel has in place.
