Rob Pelinka Finalizing Deal To Become GM Of Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers and Rob Pelinka are finalizing a multi-year deal for him to become general manager.

Pelinka will join the Lakers' front office now run by Magic Johnson following the dismissal of Mitch Kupchak and Jim Buss.

Pelinka was one of the NBA's most powerful agents, representing Kobe Bryant, James Harden, Andre Iguodala and Eric Gordon, amongst others. Pelinka will have to divest his interest in his agency to become GM of the Lakers.

This is the guy who got Kobe that huge extension after serious injuries had taken him down. It seems like he would be a competent GM, possibly in the mold of former agent Bob Myers. It would be a big step for him to drop his agency, but certainly the right move.

It looks like she's holding a miniature dog. I thought it was suppose to represent Kupchak's or somebody's ball.

This looks like a good move. Pelinka as the nuts and bolts deal-maker with Magic as the charismatic personality behind him could be just the right FO combination going forward.

It looks like Vivek's approach, copy everything or hire everybody from the Warriors. :lol:

It's good to know your team is the model of the NBA, just like the Spurs.
