Boo! This is nothing but a pathetic ploy to make more money. I can see the same stuff on SportsCenter and NBA TV. Pass!

This is definitely the (bad) idea of the players themselves. They have been wanting to create their own awards show where players vote for years now and it loos like they finally got the next best thing. They always come up with these horrible, self-indulgent ideas and this display of vanity is simply the latest of such ideas

"What's the Analytics on that?"

For shame it's not in the top 3.

The NBA is entertainment man. Basketball purists will say it's just about winning, and I respect that. But I applaud that they want to give players some additional credits for the best game-altering plays, even if it's a little about showmanship. It may take away from NBA TV/Shaqtin', but it gives true NBA fans (those who watch more than just their own team play) a little something extra.

It's not like the awards are going to be taken more seriously than traditional career statistics.

No one's going to go around saying "OMG look at Hassan Whiteside's career, he had the block of the year in 2017, he's now in GOAT conversation"...
