Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jul 7, 2017 11:51 pm

Shelvin Mack has agreed upon a two-year, $12 million deal with the Orlando Magic.

Mack will give the Magic depth at point guard behind Elfrid Payton.

It's not really the off season, until Orl overpays a limited guard.

They can waive Watson now who is only guaranteed $1 million.

The Magic love to sign those 2nd and 3rd string PG's to long term deals. Payton is about to get grossly overpaid too.

Payton, Augustin, Mack & Appling seems like the worse collection of point guards of any NBA roster.

Jodie Meeks was not a bad signing, he might have been our best bench player last year. Yes I know that's pathetic, we were not a good team. I think Mack might be a good addition, but either way the 2nd year isn't fully guaranteed so it won't hurt us long term.

Not a bad back up guard, somewhere between 2nd and 3rd string, but glad Utah didn't retain him, I rather those minutes go to Dante, Mitchell, or even Neto. Utah has too much depth at the guards, I didn't even mention Ingles (who can play both SF or SG), Hood, and Burks, and obviously Rubio who is going to be our starting PG

Anyways, Mack has his string of good play and those of bad play. I really liked him the first year we had him, but I wasn't real crazy about him last year, especially stealing all the playing time from Exum. Makes me wonder a little if Hayward didn't really like Exum, because he was getting in the dog house so much and Shelvin would get big minutes in his place when it was obvious that Exum was the project not Mack. Ofcourse Mack was Hayward's buddy from college, which is why we got him in the first place.

I'm a Magic fan and this is so true  I hope this means that the GM will try to consolidate the bench with a trade of some sort.
