Chris Bassitt will need reconstructive surgery on his injured pitching elbow, according to the Oakland Athletics.
Bassitt was examined in Cincinnati on Thursday by Dr. Timothy Kremchek. The Tommy John surgery is scheduled for Friday.
The right-hander was 0-2 with a 6.11 ERA in five starts with the A's.
