Instead, Cherington took a job with the Toronto Blue Jays in September. Cherington isn't the lead decision-maker in Toronto, but can have a more normal life.
Cherington, who was the general manager of the Boston Red Sox from October 2011 to August 2015, is Toronto's vice president of baseball operations.
