Because good ol' Byron Scott said Kobe may see some time at PF. I get small ball, but Kobe is no PF, even in small ball. The string of bad coaches for the Lakers continues, way to go Jimmy Buss! :banghead:

I dont believe Kobe can play any position effectively anymore. he cant defend and cant shoot an acceptable percentage. heck he cant even play w/o sustaining serious injury. his time is up

maybe on offense not so much on defense or if rebounding or blocking shots is needed.

As a clippers fan, I am not surprised. Although Jimmy and Byron keep getting to more stupid levels

The thing is Kobe won't say no. He is too stubborn for his own good and will say he can do it because it goes against his ego to say no

And Kobe nuthuggers will say he can because he is GOAT and no one can stop him.

SF, I understand. He would fit there given that SF are smaller now with the shift to small ball and they have a glut of guards (Lou Will, Young, Clarkson and the rookie)

LMAO trying to picture him trying to defend a Karl Malone or Charles Barkley in the post.

One of the stronger, longest wing players in the league playing a few minutes at Power Forward against a position that is getting notoriously softer as years go on.

Can't see why he couldn't do it

Even without the power forward part I would have said no. He's one of the best players of the post jordan era, but at his age, with the mileage and recent injuries, I'd be surprised if ever does anything meaningful on the court.

softer doesn't mean the guys aren't over 250lbs and close to 7 feet tall.

The only thing i can see is just lure people away from the net the Lakers play small ball. Kobe isn't really going to actually play like a PF - though I can see him getting overpower while defending a legit 4.

Where, in a senior's league? LOL You must know today's NBA is quite different where nobody in their right mind would make that switch 20 years ago, they most certainly do it now. In Today's NBA guys like Melo, Lebron, Durant, can and do play PF on a regular switch. is smaller than they are, but he's a noted defender, one of the strongest, athletically gifted players around and has the best post game of this generation.

Clearly he's not going to be guarding the Anthony Davis types, Aldridge, Gasol, Randolph, Dirk etc, but can Kobe defend the Josh Smith, Tobias Harris, Thad Young, Blake Griffin, Kevin Love types? Sure. Can they defend him? Perhaps.

The real question is whether or not it even matters on this Lakers squad who will compete for the lottery again this year.
