I guess no one in Canada thought Montreal would make the finals of Champions League.

The Canadian Championship second leg play in game is on the same day as the second leg of the finals.

The eighth edition of the Amway Canadian Championship fittingly kicks off in the Nation's Capital Wednesday night at TD Place, where a pair of confident teams will continue a rivalry that was born through both North American Soccer League (NASL) and Cup competition last season. Ottawa and Edmonton played each other on five occasions in 2014, with FC Edmonton advancing in last season’s Canadian Championship.

The winner of the preliminary round of the Amway Canadian Champions, will face the Vancouver Whitecaps, who currently sit atop the MLS standings, in the semifinals.

"We are very determined and motivated to do well in this competition," Marc Dos Santos said ahead of Wednesday's first leg. "This will be the first part of a 180-minute game. We need to stay focused on our task and believe we could be in the next round."

From the outset of the 2015 season, Dos Santos has said that one of the club's goals is to reach the semifinals of the Canadian Championship.

"It will take a lot of commitment, passion and concentration for us to qualify,” he said. “We know the qualities of our opponent, but we also know what we are capable of."

22 April 2015 - Preliminary round - first leg
Ottawa Fury FC v FC Edmonton
TD Place, Ottawa
19.30 local

29 April 2015 - Preliminary round - second leg
FC Edmonton v Ottawa Fury FC
Clarke Field, Edmonton
20.00 local

The biggest soccer tournament in Canada starts tonight.

I hope the next winner sees as much success as Montreal is seeing this year.

Since it's Canada, the game in Edmonton has been postponed due to a snow storm...

Yes on May 6th, Edmonton is covered with snow.

The Toronto FC game starts now though. Here is the link to watch the game: http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/voyageur ... rtsnet-ca/

If only Toronto FC cared about winning. Giovinco or Altidore in the line up today would have really helped.

Currently 0-0 at the half.

I guess the good news is both will be fresh for the home opener and although down by 1, TFC still have a good chance of taking the aggregate.

The team's #1 priority is to make the playoffs this year and where they are in the standings currently, I don't really blame them for giving some regulars some rest. If TFC had a better start to the season I think we might have seen them in the game but right now they need to accumulate as many league wins as possible.

MLS going deep in the CONCACAF Champions League on a regular basis would be huge for the league and would love for it's popularity to grow to the point it's taken just as seriously as league play.

Last time TFC was in Champions League I actually enjoyed it more than league play. I love facing almost unknown teams from all over CONCACAF. Plus the Mexican sides are always great.

I agree the main guys deserved some rest, but I think they should have traveled with the team. If both DP's came on in the 75th minute we could have tied the game and got a very important away goal.

So much for that... Montreal just tied it up and now has an away goal.

Will be very tough for TFC to win now.

Subbing off Jozy was the real mistake. The whole game changed at that point.

I was at the game today. The crowd was on point, the game was going well. While I can understand the reasoning of getting jozy to the bench, imo it was definitely the turning point.
