BEKO-Supercup (Ger, Bel, Tur, Gre)

Post#1 » by Belarion » Fri Aug 19, 2011 9:28 pm

Today was the start of the 4 country preparation tournament.

In the first game Greece totally destroyed Turkey with 62:38. Turkey with 13/62 FG (21%) and 2/24 3pt.

Later Germany defeated Belgium with 71:65. It was the first Game with Nowitzki and Kaman since 2008 and they joined the team just 3 days ago. Still both looked quite good (Dirk 18pts, Kaman 17pts, 9 reb)

Upcoming Games (GMT + 2):
Saturday, 20. August 2011
15.00 Uhr: Turkey – Belgium
17.15 Uhr: Germany – Greece

Sunday, 21. August 2011
14.30 Uhr: Belgium – Greece
17.15 Uhr: Germany – Turkey

turkish team looks completely lost on the court and has no energy, time is ticking to fix things.

it might sound weird, but the only hope for turkey is that hedo actually still is lazy as **** and not done already. i hope he can turn it on in the euro championship, but still not cool to play like this in front of so many turkish people living in germany. the intensity is just not there.

Zouros has installed the type of energy and effort into this squad I haven't seen since 2006:

Greece has been really impressive. Didn't expect that kind of performance and intensity to be honest. What surprises me even more is the bench - very productive.

Loosing our best players really hurt us, but from the other side is giving us much more motive. We know that Diamantidis will not be there to clean the mess, so everybody has to give 110%. We have 3 veterans and all the others are relative new. Most importantly they are hungry. If we can follow Serbia's example of last year that they where on a similar situation i will be very proud about our team even if we dont qualify to the olympics.

Greece is always impressive at friendly games. Last year the Greek National Team destroyed Canada with a 70 point margin, Russia with 40 and a lot of 25 + margin games.

On the World Cup Tournament Greece could not perform against the zone defense. Against Turkey they missed 23 wide open look 3-pointers.

On the other hand on big tournaments there is a crazy greek element that can change the course of the tournament. Like 2006...

Anyhow, anyway lets go Greece!
