Former Yugoslavia vs former Soviet Union

Imagine teams created with countries that once was parts of Yugoslavia (Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia etc.) and Soviet Union (Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine etc.). They would contain 5 of 10 European countries in 2014 World Cup.
Which one would be better? How could their roster looks like? Would they have a chance against team USA?

The Soviet Union fantasy team was super-strong during the mid 00s, but right now I think it would be one of the worst teams in decades for them.

The only legit basketball countries left from Soviet Union are Lithuania & Russia. Latvia too I guess. And the latter 2 are in decline in terms of level of play. If you went ahead and tried to form a Soviet Union team, it would be an almost all-Lithuanian team with a few Russians and Latvians playing as backup role-players. The talent pool just isn't there to compete with a bunch of former Yugoslavian countries.
