Bobcats Interested In Brandon Bass?

...potentially in the mix for Brandon Bass are the Bobcats, who are desperate to add depth at power forward as they attempt to make a run to just their second playoff berth in franchise history. Charlotte owes its own draft pick to Chicago, if it winds up landing outside the Top 10, but does have Detroit’s pick, if it lands outside the Top 8.

The Bobcats own Portland’s pick, which will wind up late in the first round because of the way Portland has played, and that’s the pick that would most likely wind up with Boston in a Bass deal.

I like it. He would be a 7 million dollar expiring next season and we would actually have a very solid backup and potential starter at PF.

Let's just say that I'm not a Brandon Bass fan, so I hope Charlotte doesn't trade for him, but I wouldn't hate it if they did because he could add a different dynamic to the lineup and would/should serve as a decent backup to Josh McRoberts if he is acquired. I would up the ante on Taj Gibson from the Bulls before I'd trade anything of significance for Bass

Bass and Taj same age. Bass 2 yrs & $1M less on contract. Similar production. Like you KIA I much prefer Taj style of play, but Bass prob comes cheaper in trade from BOS. I can understand why they're sniffin, I suppose, but . . .

Let's hope the mindset in the front office is not make the playoffs at all costs mode because last time the Bobs had that mentality Tyrus Thomas wound up in town.

this would be the ultimate pro-playoffs move. if we don't move McBob in exchange, we would have brought in two veteran power forwards and stolen all of our lotto draft pick's minutes.

Bass is a good complementary player but I don't see any point for us to go after guys who have already reached their ceiling. if we do try to make a playoff push with a trade, then at least go with someone young who could supposedly still improve.

I'd much rather have Taj, but at least this trade would help fill a need, unlike some of the other rumors. Bass is an upgrade over Zeller.

My brother and I have called him Black Hansbrough for years. Marginally better defender, rebounder than McBob, much better mid range shooter. His offense would be complementary to Al's game but not much of a needle mover. I wouldn't give up the Portland pick in a deal for him, definitely.

McRoberts have declined his option to extend his contract. Brandon Bass can be very good option for replace him. I'd like to see Bass at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

I've seen no basis aside from "Charlotte needs PF help," but I'll play along.

"Charlotte, a team who have asked about Bass in the past, could deal one of their many unprotected/protected first round picks in the 2014 draft as well."

http://clnsradio.com/boston-celtics-new ... ns-bobcats

We've asked about Bass before? That's actually interesting if so.

Apparently 2 picks = "Many"

When compared to McBob on the defensive end, Bass's strength and quick feet help him to get the upper hand. He doesn't look like the best choice for the job but Bass has proved that he's agile enough to guard LeBron and Melo. It's similar to Diaw's case.

Meanwhile, Josh is a smart defender and by all accounts our floor general on that end of the court, yet he tends to get scored on just because he lacks the lateral quickness.

Instead of Bass, would you guys be interested in Baby? I'm sure he would cost much less to obtain. Maybe a whole bag of chips, not just half a bag.

I think that none of us really want to make a move for Bass or Glen Davis if that indeed is our FO's way of loading up for the playoffs. Most wouldn't agree to that type of "playoff push" trade at all so if we make one, it at least should be for a better or younger player.

Any chance of lifting Biyombo off you guys in a Bass trade? I proposed Bass/Hump for Biyombo/Gordon on our C's board.

I would much rather keep biz than trade him for a weak playoff push
