The reason I think so many people get worked up about Hendo is he is a 3 point shot away from being a really good player. His 3 has actually improved and it may be in his best interest to take more of them.

All things considered, I think he will be a good first or 2nd option off the bench. And does anyone think he has the chance to play some SF depending on the lineup?

As much time as he spends at Duke in the off season I figured he would have had it a long time ago.

It's no secret that Henderson is a detriment to himself as well as the team, and that's what make him frustrating beyond the fact that he's a solid & serviceable player

First off, he agrees with Hornets fans who say he didn’t play particularly well last season.

“I don’t feel I played my best. It was an up-and-down year,” said Henderson, who averaged 14 points, shooting 43.3 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from 3-point range.

“For how I played the last 30 to 40 games of the 2012-13 season, I just didn’t play as well.”

How would he adapt if he loses his starting spot and plays less?

Just fine, Henderson said. That’s something he learned his freshman season at Duke, playing for coach Mike Krzyzewski.

“I got this from Coach K: That you do as well as you can in the time you’re given. If you deserve more time, you’ll earn it,” Henderson said.

“Guys want your spot. Competition is good. I’m going to play the same game and be as effective as I can, in whatever time I get.”

Henderson said he met with Clifford on Tuesday to discuss these issues. “Me and coach Clifford are on the same wavelength,” he said.

In our 15 wins in the 2012-13 season, this was Hendo's stat line: 20.5 ppg, 51.8% FG, 38.5% 3PT, 4 boards, 3.4 ast, about 1 block and 1 steal in 35 minutes.

The potential is there. So frustrating that his bad shot selection isn't corrected. Hopefully with Lance in town he won't feel the need to create and shoot off the dribble so much, and hopefully Clifford gets that straightened out.

So I got bored and saw this post near the top and wanted to see just how comical the "Where is the 3 pt line?" thread title really is for Henderson.

**NOTHING EARTH SHATTERING BELOW, SO TURN BACK NOW IF YOU DON'T CARE**

I took guards that shot the ball at least 400 times last year.

16-24 ft. Shot % (Percentage of FGA from 16-24 ft)
Avery Bradley- 42.48%
DeMar DeRozan- 36.18%
Bradley Beal- 36.06
Gerald Henderson- 36.03%
Jerryd Bayless- 34.36%

16-24/3PA (Ratio of 16-24 ft shots to 3 pt shots)
Dwyane Wade- 5.91
Shaun Livingston- 4.00
Tony Parker- 3.43
Gerald Henderson- 2.98
DeMar DeRozan- 2.42

I am surprised he stayed off of the golf course long enough to learn something new.

One of my first thoughts after we signed Lance was that signing Lance makes Hendo more valuable, because while Hendo is not good enough to be SG1, he's pretty good for an SG2, which means increased depth.

However, I guess this could play out one of two ways.

1. Hendo gets it. He realizes (being that he finally graduated from Duke so should be smart) that the team no longer needs him to be the Alpha dog on offense. (remember, guys, we needed him to be a gunner and shot creator for a couple of years there). He realizes that he is now a role player. That he needs to come in as sixth man and pop lots of catch and shoot treys. That he can be the man who creates offense on the second team only when the shot clock goes under 10.

or

2. Hendo doesn't get it. Even on the second team he continues to stop the ball and create his own inefficient mid range and fall away shots even when the clock is at 20. In which case, we lament the loss of CDR and the lack of playing time for Hairston.

Hoping for #1

I really don't know what to expect from Henderson this season...

Every year, I got the impression that he's going to be one of the key player we wanted him to be, like a 3pt threat.

But this coming season, with the arrival of Stephenson and him as a probable 6th man, I think he'll finally find his grounds.

I think we should expect a substantial step forward from Hendo. He's heard constant talk about how we need to improve our perimeter shooting, he saw us add PJ and Lance in the offseason without sending out any of our wings, and he sees Taylor back in the loop and fighting for time. It should be pretty obvious to him that if he wants to have a major role on this team he's going to have to fight for it.
